There are different definitions of the concept of blended learning. Powell, et al. According to, “the blended learning approach combines the best elements of online learning and face-to-face. It is expected to become the most preferred model in the future and become much more common than other models."
Blended learning in a general sense describes a learning experience that can be tailored to a particular audience, not limited to place or time. A broader definition may be: learners perform part of traditional education and the time allocated for it by controlling their own learning tools and/or speed at any time and place they want, with the capabilities of the online environment. (Obsidan Learning t.y.)
Blended learning as a concept takes its roots from online learning and represents a fundamental change for a student that traditional teaching never had; one that has the potential to improve, improve and optimize students ' learning.
Although schools have long used computers and technology in teaching, until recently they have never used technology to provide students with a real educational “blending”that allows them to have control over their learning.
Students learn partially through online learning, and during their learning, they have control over where, when, and how to work.
Students use technology to do the same job in the same place, time and speed during learning.
Devices are used to take advantage of the opportunity for individualization.
The devices are used to support traditional teaching
Classes are fundamentally changing their teaching to provide an integrated learning experience.
Classes are supported to enrich the traditional learning experience.
There are 3 types of blended teaching:
1. It is an official curriculum in which learners learn part of traditional education and the time allocated for it by controlling their own learning tools and/or speed at any time and place they want with the facilities of the online environment.
Critical to the definition is”online learning, which is part of student control". In all blended learning programs, students do some of their learning over the internet. Here we are not talking about using a number of online tools, such as an online graph calculator, Google Documents. What we're talking about here is a big shift in the content of teaching from face-to-face teaching to web-based content, that is, online teaching.
The most important element in blended learning is “student control”, otherwise blended learning is no different from online learning, where the teacher processes the lesson on the board.
In order for the use of technology in online learning to be considered blended learning, content and learning are given to the student's control, rather than just using technology in the classroom from the teacher's own point of view. The control here is that speed adjustments can be made through the student when pausing, going backwards, or skipping a portion of the content.
2.It is for learners to continue their learning under supervision in a (physical) place knitted with stone or brick outside the House. In other words, this place is usually the nearest neighboring school, but sometimes it is learning or science centers equipped with large computer facilities that are located in a shopping center or a different part of the city. Blended learning means that at least one component of students ' programs is performed outside of school.
3. Blended teaching provides an integrated learning experience with the interconnectedness of the methods a student has throughout their learning journey within a course or subject.
For example, these students. If they are learning a lesson collated, they are allowed to learn by using face-to-face and online components integrated. A full course of this also means that students learn some topics online, and then come together in a classroom in face-to-face teaching to repeat the topics in the lesson. To avoid lack of coordination here, most blended learning programs use a computer-based data system to track each student's progress and try to match it to the appropriate level and subject, whether online, one-on-one or a small group. The basic idea here is that blended learning involves an existing “blending”, no matter what form is used during the study.
Blended learning models
Inverted teaching model
It is the most widely recognized blended learning model. The inverted teaching model changes the traditional structure of a course processed in the classroom. Traditionally, after the lesson is processed in the classroom, students are given homework to do at home. This method reverses this process. Students study the course with online content before the lesson, and then discuss the content, review the problems, and group work, project, homework research, etc. he participates in face-to-face training in the classroom to perform activities.
Face-to-face teaching model
It is the most common blended learning model used in corporate teaching. In this model, a significant portion of the time allocated for a face-to-face lesson is replaced by online lessons and activities. In this model, teachers and educators meet face-to-face with students at the beginning or end of the lesson. This model is more suitable for vocational or in-service training
Online model, flexible Model and enriched virtual Model
Online learning is the basis of this model. students complete most of the trainings online and complete some necessary face-to-face t together, such as lectures, project work or laboratories. The difference in this model may be that students have access to online educational materials, but the teacher provides one-on-one support when necessary, with flexible and adaptive lessons through activities such as small group training, group projects, and individual training instead of programmed lessons.
Multi-headlight versions of this model are available, allowing to meet the needs of various formal and informal learning processes.
